About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to build, scale, and maintain core retail backend platforms. This role focuses on hands-on development of robust, distributed microservices using Node.js and Apache Kafka. You will implement scalable services, reliability patterns (retries, idempotency, circuit breakers), and own testing and code quality through unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. Work includes Kafka-based messaging, consumer patterns and DLQ strategies, containerization with Docker, and deployment to Kubernetes clusters. Collaborate closely with the Technical Architect to translate system blueprints into production-grade code, drive engineering best practices, and mentor mid-level and junior engineers on coding standards, system design, and observability integration (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years building production-grade distributed microservices.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Practical experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture integration.
- Practical knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, software design patterns, secure coding practices, and distributed systems thinking.
- Proven experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and participating in or leading code reviews.
